Elvis Presley and the Spitz

Elvis Presley loved animals. During his lifetime he almost had his own zoo at Graceland.

He couldn't keep all the animals and donated them to the zoo.

In addition to chickens, ducks, a donkey, horses and some exotic representatives such as a wallaby and a squirrel monkey, many dogs lived with the King of Rock 'n' Roll.

His dogs included:

  • two Great Danes named Brutusand Snoopy

  • the Pomeranian Edmund

  • a Chow Chow named Get Lo

  • the black poodle Stuff

  • another poodle named Honey

  • the Great White Pyrenees Muffin

  • and the basset hound Sherlock.

The latter rose to fame in photos with his #1 hit on the Billboard charts "Hound Dog".

And there were several spikes at Graceland. These included Edmund Number One" and "Edmund Number Two" - two Pomeranian Pomeranians. "Edmund Number 1 received a red leather collar studded with stones, while "No. 2" received a more plain brown leather collar.

There are records that one of the Edmunds had a beautiful honey colored coat. In a very short time, he developed such a strong bond with Evli's aunt Delta that it was finally decided that he had to move in with her.

There are two photos from 1955 that show Elvis with a white Spitz:
