In Wilhelm Busch's last major work from 1894, a spitz also plays a not insignificant role:
Painter Blot
Seventh Chapter
So it's like the previous one
Event teaches world history
Probably not the right area,
Where Kuno's fame and fortune flourishes.
Maybe if you get to know me better
Nature created it for the landscape,
The anyone who is inclined
Lots of nice vantage points.
Z. B. this piece of rock
Grant him a wide view.
Who is crossing that stream?
This is Miss von der Ach.
Wealthy, but a bit elderly,
Half spiritual already and half still worldly,
They walk with peace of mind
And her Spitz to the monastery.
Two dogs hop up,
These are linked by a string.
The good lady is tied up.
The spitz, very anxious, withdraws,
The spitz hurries, the dogs after;
With them Miss von der Ach.
Kuno jumps off his stone.
A knife cut separates the leash.
The Kuno is extremely gallant.
The young lady asks before she disappears:»Aren't we allowed to see your studio?«
»Holzgasse 5.« – »Thank you very much!« –
Perhaps that good deedhas quite pleasant consequences!
After this hopeful noteLet's continue in the praiseworthy work.
